Rubicon Trail Requirements

The Rubicon Trail is an iconic symbol of off-road adventure, celebrated globally for its rugged terrain and formidable challenges. Successfully navigating this legendary trail demands more than just skill; it requires careful preparation and the right equipment to ensure your vehicle's safety and protect the preservation of the trail itself.

Equipping your rig with essential items is crucial to conquering the Rubicon Trail with finesse and respect. From durable recovery gear to trail-friendly modifications, each component plays a vital role in enhancing your journey while minimizing environmental impact.

Here are some necessary items to equip your rig for a successful Rubicon Trail excursion:

Off-road vehicle climbing rocky terrain under clear blue sky.

You MUST have the following equipment:

This vehicle is equipped with 35" all terrain tires that are in good condition, providing excellent performance. It features a differential locker for improved traction, along with rocker protection to safeguard against obstacles. The setup includes a 3" lift for enhanced ground clearance and a spare tire for emergencies. For added flexibility, front sway bar disconnects are included, alongside sturdy skid plates and a roll bar for safety. Each passenger is secured with seat belts, ensuring a safe ride. The low crawl ratio is 50:1 for standards and 35:1 for automatics, offering great control in challenging terrains. There is one attachment point at both the front and rear for additional gear. A functional parking brake or Line Lock device enhances safety, while a fire extinguisher and first aid kit are provided for emergencies. Every guest must sign a Hold Harmless Waiver, and proof of insurance and a driver's license are required. An AirMedCare Network Membership is also recommended for added peace of mind.

The following is highly recommended:

Mud or all-terrain tires are essential for off-road adventures. With 2 differential lockers, upgraded bumpers, and a highlift jack, your vehicle will be well-equipped for any terrain. A winch rated for your vehicle adds an extra layer of capability, while onboard air ensures you can adjust tire pressure on the go.

Additional recommended accessories:

When preparing for your adventure, ensure you have essential hand tools and spare parts on hand. An onboard welder can be invaluable, along with durable work gloves. Additionally, it's crucial to have a winch rated at roughly twice your vehicle’s weight, preferably with synthetic rope for added safety. Don't forget to include extrication hardware, a tree strap, clevis, and a strong chain. A reliable tow strap and two adequate attachment points for towing—both front and rear—are also necessary for a smooth experience.
